When a nurse identifies a child who may be abused, or receives information from a teacher that a child may have been abused, the nurse must:
 
  1. Call the police immediately to take the child to a safe place
  2. Contact the parents and ask about it
  3. Contact the legal authorities as well as the school's principal
  4. Examine the child to see if the abuse really occurred
