  2. The researcher should reevaluate the study for revision prior to publication.

Answer to Question 1

B
Feedback:
A null hypothesis is a hypothesis that states there is no relationship between the independent variable(s) and the dependent variable(s). Directional hypotheses specify not only the existence but the expected direction of the relationship between variables. A non-directional hypothesis stipulates a relationship between variables but not the direction of the relationship. A research hypothesis is a statement of expected relationships between variables. Hypotheses can be either simple hypotheses (with a single independent variable and dependent variable) or complex (multiple independent or dependent variables).

Answer to Question 2

4
Rationale 1: Tabling the study will not serve to notify potential readers of findings.
Rationale 2: The researcher should report on the study as completed. Reevaluation midway through the study is not appropriate.
Rationale 3: If this study was not one with merit, it should not have been done in the first place. Half way through the study is not the time to make that decision.
Rationale 4: Each research study will not have ample findings of statistical significance to recommend change. The absence of such findings should be reported in the study.
