For instance, mentally ill inmates may be medically coerced to take psychotropic medications against their will if the mental disorder is serious, the inmate is dan-gerous to himself, and the medication prescribed is in the inmate's best medical interest. Schizo-phrenia is the diagnosis most likely to require medical coercion.
