Answer to Question 1

ANS: A, B, D
It is suggested that people cohabit for three reasons: (1) some would marry but do not for eco-nomic reasons, (2) others seek a more egalitarian relationship, and (3) others use it as a trial period to assess whether to marry. Sharing resources is not a reason for cohabitation because food stamps and budget management are not always shared when people live together. Resources may not be able to be received by multiple individuals.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: D
The Family Medical Leave legislation allows for a family member to take a defined amount of leave for family events, such as births and deaths, without fear of losing his or her job. The Fam-ily Medical Leave legislation does not allow for retention of health insurance after resigning from employment, sharing family information with colleagues, or provision of Medicaid to a family who cannot afford insurance.
