Rules include do not offer expert advice or assistance based on what you think the person needs or can do; do not grab the arm of a person who is blind but let the person take your arm so the person does not lose his or her balance; do not pet a working dog; do seek out similarities and shared interests; do inform the person who is present; say goodbye when leaving; and treat the person very much like an able-bodied person.
