LNCs perform many different services and activities, including organizing and analyzing medical records and related materials; preparing chronologies of health care events; and identifying standards of care. It is essential that the LNC be prepared, having reviewed the case and all related materials very thoroughly. The LNC would probably not create a PowerPoint slide presentation, examine all witnesses in preparation for the trial, personally complete the autopsy, or prepare charts and tables to illustrate the important legal points.
