Answer to Question 1

Students should discuss the concept of deprivation and satiation and the impact it has on reinforcement.
Students may discuss the concept of primary and secondary reinforcers and process of pairing secondary
reinforcers with primary reinforcers to establish value of the secondary reinforcers. Students may discuss
reinforcing sampling as a way to attempt to determine possible reinforcers.

Answer to Question 2

Basic rules for use of reinforcers in contracting:
1) reinforcers should be delivered immediately following behavior contingency
2) contract should specify and reward approximations
3) frequent delivery of reinforcement
4) reward accomplishment versus obedience
5) reinforcement is contingent of performance of state behavior in the contract
