Answer to Question 1

Nigeria is a presidential system, which means that vast powers in the central
government are concentrated in the hands of the president. Nigeria's current
constitution was modeled after the American political system in a number of important
respects. The president is directly elected through a popular vote and, unlike in
parliamentary systems, the legislaturethe National Assemblydoes not have the
power to dismiss him. The only routine way for a president to be removed from office is
through the ballot box, since impeachment requires at least two-thirds of the votes of
members of the National Assembly. The Nigerian president is powerful in the same way
that the American president is powerful, due to the system's separation of and
separation of survival.
