What happened to the power of the governors when the states finally did write their first state constitutions?
 
  a. The powers of governors, often including veto powers and the power of appointment, were severely reduced.
  b. Governors lost the power to tax, but were still considered powerful players in state governments.
  c. Governors were given extended terms, so if the state found a good governor, they could keep him in office to serve the people.
