Term limit is a statutory or constitutional restriction on the number of terms in office a state legislator may serve. State supreme courts in five statesMassachusetts, Nebraska, Oregon, Washington, and Wyominghave struck down term limits as unconstitutional.

An ideal response would be:
Reformers have successfully argued that presidential and gubernatorial elections should be separated so that state elections are not swamped by the tides of national politics.
