An ideal response will:
1, Define case precedent as a legal rule established by a judicial decision that guides subsequent decisions; judges make their decisions by applying these rules established by higher courts for cases with similar fact situations.
2, Explain that the use of case precedent is drawn from the common law system brought from Great Britain to the United States.
