2, Explain that in a civil lawsuit, people or corporations seek compensation from those whom they accuse of violating contracts or causing personal injuries or property damage; these lawsuits can also seek orders from judges requiring the government, corporations, or individuals to take specific actions or refrain from behavior that violates the law.
