2, Explain that the president advocated for direct and immediate aid to individuals around the country in the form of extended unemployment benefits and homeowner relief; that he proposed providing automobile and home-buying incentives to jump-start consumer spending; that he urged Congress to authorize funds to rescue banking institutions and domestic car companies on the brink of collapse, because their failure would have had a long-term and far-reaching impact on our economy.
3, Explain that the New Federalism was consistently committed to the principle of states' rights and reined in federal power.
