Answer to Question 1

An ideal response will:
1, Discuss a typical day in your life and how government affects choices, plans, and expectations.
2, Provide examples of how government is important for typical activities. For instance, when you wake up in the morning, the electricity that powers your alarm clock and lights is provided by either a government entity or a firm that contracts with government to provide that electricity. The electricity is regulated to ensure safety. The food in your refrigerator is produced in plants that must comply with Food and Drug Administration requirements for safety. The roads you drive on were laid out and constructed under governmental guidelines to ensure safety. You may have chosen whether to obey the government specified speed limit based on the driving laws in your state. The classroom you sit in may be in a state-run college or university. The electricity provided is also regulated by the government. When you bought lunch, the state and local governments decided how much tax to collect on the purchase. The revenue might go to pay for services including police and fire protection, road maintenance, and education. You might decide whether to buy something based on the total price, which includes any taxes or excises.

Your skin wrinkles if you stay in the bathtub a long time because the outermost layer of skin (which consists of dead keratin) swells when it absorbs water. It is tightly attached to the skin below it, so it compensates for the increased area by wrinkling. This happens to the hands and feet because they have the thickest layer of dead keratin cells.
