Answer to Question 1

d. containment

Answer to Question 2

An ideal response will:
1, Explain the different sources of bias that might exist in the media, including ideological bias as well as gatekeeping, coverage, and statement bias.
2, Apply those concepts to the ways in which the major networks cover presidential elections, specifically using examples such as the media's overwhelmingly positive coverage of Barack Obama in 2008.
3, Explain why more objective coverage may or may not be better by drawing upon the points raised in the text, for example, that citizens perceive information coming from sources that are consistent with their beliefs to be more credible.
