1, Describe the intent of this bill, which is to end welfare as we know it by providing two years of support in exchange for an agreement to find work: (1) Each state would receive a fixed amount of money to run its own welfare programs, (2) people on welfare would have to find work within two years or lose all their benefits, and (3) there would be a lifetime maximum of five years for welfare.
2, Describe the results of the reform: Benefits to poor families are small and declining. The number of families receiving aid has also declined.More encouragement and resources exist for the poor to find work.
