Answer to Question 1

An ideal response will:
1, Describe the Social Security system.
2, Explainhow it is funded as a kind of intergenerational contract whereby the current generation of workers pays the benefits for the current generation of retirees.
3, Highlight that the retired community of members is increasing due to increased life expectancy and the retirement of the baby boomers, while the working population is not growing quickly enough. Fewer people are paying into Social Security and more people are taking money from Social Security.

Answer to Question 2

An ideal response will:
1, Define originalism as the belief that courts should interpret the Constitution as the Framers meant or intended.
2, Note that originalism takes two principle forms: the original intent theory holds that interpretation of a written constitution or law should be consistent with what was meant by those who drafted and ratified it; original meaning theory is the view that judges should base their interpretations of a written constitution or law on what reasonable persons living at the time of its adoption would have declared the ordinary meaning of the text to be.
