You are consulting with a family. The parents are having difficulty managing their 10-year-old daughter's behavior. You recommend that they implement a contingency contract with their daughter. However, the process you describe should include the following: Hold a family meeting to discuss how contracts work. Next, ask family members to identify task he/she can perform within the contract and tasks he/she already performs in the home. Next, fill out a list of behaviors that could be included in the contract. Next, fill out a list of rewards people would like to earn. Finally, write the contract, and be sure to include all of the necessary components.

The 4 important components of a task description are: 1) who will perform the task, 2) what the task is, 3) when the task must be completed, and 4) how well the task must be completed.
