Pastoralists raise their animals on semi-arid grasslands whose vegetation is not a human food source, while ranchers feed their livestock grain, a human food source.

Answer to Question 2

This is an agreement across pastoral herds that involves setting aside relatively large areas of reliable pasture and water for years when there is drought.
