2. It is based on a fear that migrants will be competitors for limited resources.
3. Any example of a policy that restricts immigration or forcibly moves a population based on a perceived threat to entitlements could be the result of this mentality.

1. The Maya villagers were forced to leave their home area due to economic hardship and the increasing inability to make a living.
2. A new settlement was founded on a principle of social equality and collective organizing.
3. In the late 1970s, during the civil war in Guatemala, the government suspected the village of harboring insurgents.
4. In 1982 the village was attacked and the residents fled or were killed.
