Answer to Question 1

Answer: The two types of images children encounter are moving (movies, computer games, videos, television, etc.) and still (photographs, maps, diagrams, comics, drawings, etc.). Students need to develop visual literacy to create, interpret, and evaluate images.

Answer to Question 2

Answer: This means that the classroom provides regular opportunities for students to hear good language, to be engaged with other students in meaningful oral and written activities, and to have a variety of choices in their activities. Children learn that which is important to them. Therefore, the foundation of good teaching is providing students with interesting and meaningful contexts for language use. When children have purposes for developing new abilities, they are most likely to focus their attention and engage fully in taking the risks to learn something new.
