Answer: The ideal answer will include:
1. Individual leaders gain prestige, influence, and authority with a system of redistribution.
2. A successful big-man or big-woman will have gained prestige in several villages.
3. These leaders will have greater wealth than their followers, but with the expectation of continued generosity on their part.
4. While big-men are more common than big-women, big-women are found in locations such as Vanatinai.
5. This system is found on Pacific islands, particularly within Melanesia.
