Answer: The ideal answer will include:
1. Culture among nonhuman primates is defined by learned and shared behavior.
2. A macaque on the island of Koshima, Japan, developed a way to rinse sand off of sweet potatoes and then passed the technique to others.
3. Chimpanzee tool use in East and West Africa differed by site, indicating cultural variation in learned behaviors.
4. The chimpanzee grooming hand clasp is found only in some groups.

1. Primates have flatter faces than other mammals.
2. Primates rely on vision more than other mammals.
3. The opposable thumbs of primates allow a variety of tool use.
