Answer to Question 1

D

Answer to Question 2

How does shared writing increase a child's understanding of print and facilitate reading development?

The shared writing strategy involves having the teacher write down stories that children dictate. These child-composed stories are a dynamic means to demonstrate the connections among talking, reading, and writing. As the teacher writes down the children's speech, the children immediately see the one-to-one correspondence between spoken and written words. The teacher also has opportunities to teach alphabet recognition and concepts of print. Because the children are the authors of these highly contextualized stories, they can easily read the stories. Shared writing strategies include chart stories, interactive writing, individual experience stories, and the classroom newspaper.
