English speakers must include the pronoun she in a sentence like While Maria is taking a walk, she is listening to her iPod. In the corresponding Spanish sentence, Spanish speakers would leave out the pronoun, resulting in a null subject. What do we observe in Spanish-English bilingual children, given that they are exposed to both types of patterns?

  a. There is no effect of bilingualism: their Spanish sentences look just like those of monolingual Spanish speaking children, and their English sentences look just like those of monolingual English speaking children.
  b. When producing the English sentence, they are more likely to leave out the pronoun than monolingual English speaking children
  c. When producing the Spanish sentence, they are more likely to produce an overt pronoun than monolingual Spanish speaking children
  d. Both (b) and (c).
