Answer to Question 1

A
Closed-angle glaucoma causes rapid vision loss and dramatic symptoms. Closed-angle (acute) glaucoma produces severe pain, decreased vision, and nausea and vomiting. The patient sees colored halos around lights.

Answer to Question 2

B
Feedback:
It is important to discuss alternatives, both pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic, to benzodiazepine use with older adults. The patient's pattern of use does not necessarily indicate a diagnosis of generalized anxiety disorder and the nurse should not be making this decision. Benzodiazepines are not known to have a Parkinsonian effect and they are not necessarily inappropriate or ineffective.

Early clockmakers apparently thought that the IIII balanced out the VIII (used for the number 8) on the clock face and that it just looked better.
