Answer to Question 1

C
Right-side hemiparesis involves a left-side brain injury. The left side of the brain controls speak-ing and language. By giving the patient a dry erase board, he or she can communicate easier in-itially after the stroke. People who have this type of hemiparesis experience difficulty talking.
With only one side affected; the nurse should be able to transfer the patient alone. Pa-tients with left-side hemiparesis have with short term memory, often repetition must be incorpo-rated into patient care. The raising of all four side rails up would be considered a restraint.

Dogs have been used in studies to detect various cancers in human subjects. They have been trained to sniff breath samples from humans that were collected by having them breathe into special tubes. These people included 55 lung cancer patients, 31 breast cancer patients, and 83 cancer-free patients. The dogs detected 54 of the 55 lung cancer patients as having cancer, detected 28 of the 31 breast cancer patients, and gave only three false-positive results (detecting cancer in people who didn't have it).
