Answer to Question 1

A
A retirement center is a supportive living environment. Residents maintain their independence but are free of maintenance worries, can receive housekeeping services, and can even choose to have meals prepared in a central dining room. Intermediate and skilled nursing facilities (responses B and C) would require that Mrs. LaRue have a functional need, not simply the inability to maintain her home financially. The senior center (response D) is an inappropriate referral. Senior centers are activity centers, not living alternatives.

Answer to Question 2

D
Orientation to time is tested by asking the date. This is not a test for short-term memory (response A), long-term memory (response B), or memory recall (response C).
