Answer to Question 1

D
Stress incontinence is commonly seen in older women who involuntarily lose urine as the result of a sudden increase in intraabdominal pressure. Overflow incontinence consists of frequent in-voluntary losses of small amounts of urine. Functional incontinence is manifested by loss of large volumes of urine because of a lack of awareness of the need to void or a mobility problem. Urge incontinence is accompanied by a sudden urge to void.

Answer to Question 2

A
Patients with hepatic or renal dysfunction should not take metformin. A patient who drinks as much as three to four alcoholic drinks a day has a real risk of liver disease. The use of insulin by the parents is not related. Both kidney lab values are normal.
