Answer to Question 1

A
The illness trajectory can be modified by actions taken by the health care provider that directly affect the patient's ability/interest to adhere to the treatment plan prescribed. The other actions are important but do not directly affect the illness trajectory.

Answer to Question 2

B
The nurse needs to complete a full assessment to determine what type of pain the patient is expe-riencing and if a narcotic is the best alternative for the patient. Other medications may be more beneficial.
