At the same time that the increased population of teenagers places more demands on library services, public librarians are facing the tremendous task of:
 
  a. cataloging an increasing number of books, with decreased staff and financial resources.
  b. deciding whether to purchase fiction or nonfiction for young adults and for curricular integration.
  c. integrating technology and information literacy into their programs while they maintain and expand other types of resources and programs.
  d. debating the pros and cons of using young adult literature in the middle and secondary school curriculum.
