In glomerulonephritis, the normal filtration barrier is damaged and becomes far more permeable to plasma proteins, such as albumin along with other solutes. How would that affect glomerular filtration?

When the glomerular basement membrane is damaged as a result of pathology, it becomes more permeable to substances which would normally not travel through this barrier. As a result, certain substances will appear in the urine as they are no longer effectively filtered out. This is particularly evident with proteins, which is why this value is often measured in a urinalysis.
