One side says thatstudents must be exposed to the broad arrayof influences that have shaped our country's history and, thus, teachers must be able to teach history in this way. Critics of this approach feel that the content of history courses focus too much on topics outsidethe important events that shaped the United States. Because of the broad training teachers receive, criticsfeel that teachers are ill-equipped to teach history effectively.
