Jones grabbed a purse from Smith's arm and began running. A police officer saw what happened and ran after Jones. Jones sprinted across a bridge and threw the purse into the river below. He stopped and did not resist when the officer arrested him. Upon interrogation, Jones claimed that a voice in his head told him that the purse contained a bomb.
