Answer to Question 1

(a) Interpretation of the question: People may interpret questions differently depending on whether they are searching for instances in the recent versus distant past.
(b) Memories tend to telescope, that is, events are often thought of as having occurred more recently than they really have.
(c) Context influences what information people remember. Previous questions may trigger memories that are otherwise inaccessible.
(d) The nature of response alternatives influences answers. Respondents assume that the possible answers constitute typical responses and adjust their answers to conform to what is expected.

Answer to Question 2

The results section gives a complete description of results, but does not provide speculation or discussion. The presentation of results should be an objective description that is relatively free of theoretical bias. The discussion section uses the data to develop interpretations and speculations; it can involve theory and particular points of view that the author wants to advance. The difference between the results and the discussion is that the results are usually fairly clear and are not controversial; the discussion, on the other hand, requires interpretation that goes provides meaning about what the data tell us.
