Central America, Middle America, and South America are three terms that refer to geographic areas of Latin America. Describe the areas each of the three terms represents.

Many small Pacific islands have been referred to as coconut civilizations. Explain coconut trees as a staple to these civilizations.

Latin America's two main subregions are neatly offset from one another geographically. The northern part, known as Middle America, includes Mexico, the countries of Central America and the islands of the Caribbean. South America protrudes much farther into the Atlantic Ocean. Central America refers to the countries between Mexico and South America.
