Answer to Question 2

The Bermuda High moves south in winter. Across much of the United States, intense winter storms develop and travel eastward, frequently dumping heavy precipitation as they go. Usually, however, the heaviest precipitation is concentrated in the eastern states, as moisture from the Gulf of Mexico moves northward head of these systems. Therefore, cities on the west coast have maximum precipitation in the winter months only, whereas cities in the East usually have abundant rainfall all year long.
