Answer to Question 1

D

Answer to Question 2

The mechanism is the convection of heat. Air near the ground surface is warmed, becomes less dense and rises, pulling air in from the surrounding region. As the air rises, it cools, and eventually moves outward. It continues to cool until it becomes dense enough to sink. This describes a convection cell.
