Answer to Question 1

In the initial stage, stream valleys are narrow, v-shaped, and eroding downward. Generally topography is fairly hilly and mountainous.

In the intermediate stage, streams begin to erode laterally and meanders form. There is a narrow floodplain on either side of the river and the river occupies a narrow valley.

In the advanced stage, meanders enlarge and an large, flat floodplain has developed. It may contain oxbow lakes and meander scars.
