Answer to Question 1

a. Tucson Basin residents.
Tucson citizens will have to pay for the damage to roads and utility lines in their taxes,
utility bills, or homeowners association fees (where applicable).
b. Residents of the surrounding area.
Residents of the surrounding area may see increased prices for their utilities, as well, if
served by the same companies as citizens in Tucson.
c. Seasonal residents and vacationers in Tucson.
Seasonal residents and vacationers may feel the eff ects of subsidence through increased
prices at restaurants and other tourist areas as a direct result of higher utility bills and
taxes at those businesses.

Answer to Question 2

Answers will vary. Roads will crack and need to be replaced. Utility lines (gas lines, water
lines, etc.) will also subside with the land surface and will probably crack as well.
