Does the total water use in the U.S. show any general geographic patterns?
  Do northern states use more water than southern states? Do eastern states
  use more than western states? Large states more than small states? What will be an ideal response?

The largest states (CA and TX) appear to use more than other states. Otherwise, there
are no clear patterns of use.

Answers will vary. May include categories based on location, purpose, or some
combination of both. Some possible categories may include household, commercial,
agricultural, industrial, and recreational uses.



Answer to Question 3

Answers will vary. Water uses outside the home are similar to uses in the home, but in
larger volume. Uses include cleaning, bathing, cooking, agriculture and landscaping,
waste disposal, fi shing, swimming, boating, dust control, manufacturing, generating
power, etc.
