Answer to Question 1

Answers will vary. Examples include variations on cleaning, bathing, cooking, watering
plants, cooling, waste disposal, and recreation. Water is also used in the process of
manufacturing most products we use and is an ingredient in many products such as
shampoo and paint. Water is also used for generating electrical power and in mining,
refi ning, and processing raw materials.



Answer to Question 2

Remember that a watershed is an area drained by a network of interconnected
streams and rivers. Runoff and smaller streams fl ow into a common body of water
 usually a larger stream or river. Th erefore, everyone living downstream in a
watershed is aff ected by what happens upstream. Th is includes both the quantity
and quality of the water that they receive.
