Answer to Question 1

Answers will vary. It is unknown if the ice sheets are being used as a drinking water
source at this time. The relative inaccessibility of the water in the ice is the main reason
why this source is not being used.

Answer to Question 2

Answers will vary. Some countries in the Middle East are investigating the use of
saltwater for a drinking water supply (and some countries are already using saltwater
as a source through desalination).
