Answer to Question 1

In an average decade, the Washington, D.C. area can expect to experience one hurricane.
(10 years  0.12 = 1.2 hurricanes , rounded off = 1)



Answer to Question 2

Risk ranges from 12  48  per year for a strike by a hurricane.
