Answer to Question 1

Answer: Epochs are subsets of periods which are subsets of eras. For instance, the Pleistocene Epoch is part of the Quaternary Period, which is a subset of the Cenozoic Era.

Answer to Question 2

Answer: The geomorphic processes are mainly slow. So only through their actions over millions upon millions of years can we have the landscapes we see today.
