Photosynthesis is the process by which autotrophs use the energy from sunlight to produce chemical energy. In basic terms, photosynthesis converts CO2, water, and light into carbohydrates and oxygen. The generalized equation os: H2O + CO2 + light gC6H12O6 + O2
Respiration is the opposite of photosynthesis. It is the process that breaks down carbohydrates with oxygen, releasing CO2. The generalized equation is C6H12O6 + O2 gH2O + CO2 + Energy
