She uses several strategies:
She reads an exciting story at the beginning of the day.
She engages the children in a song as a way of taking attendance.
She incorporates the task of learning letter sounds into a game.
She has a physical activity in which the children make Vs on the floor.

She uses the red circle as a place to keep the children's attention when she gives instructions for a new activity

She is clearly not promoting intrinsic motivation. By implying that she cannot trust her students to behave responsibly, she may be reducing their self-efficacy with regard to their ability to make reasonable decisions about their own classroom behavior.
