A caldera is a large, basin shaped depression that forms when summit material on a volcanic mountain collapse inward. These may fill with water to form lakes.
A shield volcano is a gently sloped, gradually rising volcano formed from effusive eruptions.
A composite volcano forms from an explosive eruption and formed by multiple layers of lava, ash, rock, and pyroclastics.
