Answer to Question 1

TRUE

Answer to Question 2

The biome concept defines world into large biogeographic regions based on plant communities and determined mainly by vegetation life forms and community characteristics as they relate to climate. This is in contrast to Earth's biogeographic realms, which are defined based on floral and faunal assemblages. A biome, by definition, is a large, stable, terrestrial or aquatic (though mostly terrestrial) ecosystem classified according to the predominant vegetation type and the adaptations of particular organisms to the environment. The boundaries of biogeographic regions are usually determined by climatic and topographic barriers. There is not a single universal classification method for the world's biomes, so classifications vary depending on source. Given the extensive transition zones between biomes and the classification methods based on vegetation associations, the delineation is somewhat arbitrary.
