Answer to Question 1

The Mount Pinatubo eruption is discussed throughout the text and student may use examples from elsewhere. In general, though, the eruption produced 15 to 20 million tons of ash, 12 km3 of magma, ash, and pyroclastics. The summit of the volcano collapsed, forming a caldera. It had global implications, affecting the Earth's climate, releasing an aerosol cloud that changed atmospheric albedo, impacted atmospheric absorption of insolation, and altered net radiation.

Answer to Question 2

FALSE
